Teach Me Some Respect -- Single -- lyrics

“Pretty much what they said is, ‘Your body is physically designed to eat, and likewise, it’s physically designed for sex, and so if you hunger—you have the hunger—that means you have the urge to eat. How do you satisfy it? By eating.” But what they believed is sex was the same thing, so you get the urge you’re allowed to satisfy it—pretty much in any which way you want.
“And this is how our world sees it today. There’s virtually no difference, it’s just biology to them. And again, people who consent have the right to do whatever they want with no strings attached. Well look, this line of thinking is absolutely impossible for the Christian world view.”

This message is for me before it is for you
My mind be thinking like this constantly, dude
“See that girl over there, man—ain’t she cute?”
Refute! Refute! “Yeah she is it’s pretty true
She’s a gift from God—Genesis 2:18
It ain’t good for man to be lonely
That’s from God—it’s in the Scripture, see?”
“It is, but check it—love ain’t self-seeking
1 Corinthians 13:5—God’s Word as well, homie”
So I need a mind frame renewal right now, today
Ephesians 4:22-24 is about ‘put off, renew, put on’—wait
[Pause] teach me how, please!
Teach me some respect; teach me, teach me some respect
Teach, teach, teach me some respect
Teach me some respect; teach me, teach me some respect
Teach me some respect—women aren’t objects
Teach me some respect; teach me, teach me some respect
Teach, teach, teach me some respect
Teach me some respect; teach me, teach me some respect
Teach me some respect towards Your gift called sex
Class is in session so listen up bro
Let’s start with some terms that you need to know
Fornication—even with “love”—will leave you with sorrow
Friends with benefits is prostitution minus pay—yo
Porn’s not art—it’s gazing on slavery like a tv show
Masturbation is selfish and lazy fo sho
If you’re bi, you’re riding a fence—you’ll fall and yell, “Oh!”
And it’s just as big a perversion as those if you’re homo
Yep, I said it bro, but here I go
God created sex good, but Satan said, “Yo
when I get them to sin this will be easy to flow
for my own uses—out of its context (marriage) I’ll blow”
And then Genesis 4 we see Lamech’s two does
And from that perversion it continued to go
Once we hit Genesis 34 it’s brightly aglow
Dinah raped, Levi said, “Should he treat her like a hoe?”
HOOK
Don’t get me started on that BDSM style
Cuz even the lightest shade of grey is impure and defiled
Read the Song of Songs and you won’t see anything like that
Cuz real men refuse to treat women like crap
And just cuz Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 7:4
The husband owns his wife’s body and she owns his form
Don’t mean at all that we should walk upon each other
But rather that we should out honor one another
If your bedroom desires don’t show the other’s great value
Then admit your desires as shallow, repent and don’t wallow
The goal of the Christian life is love to all
From the bedroom to the mall to the Islamic radical
As I said before Satan perverted that which was great
Jesus died and rose to renew all—even our hidden hate
So don’t call it making love, cuz you just earning death
If the two of you aren’t bound by covenant yet
HOOK
Abusing God’s good gift of sex is gross
In God’s eyes it’s equal to murdering your bro
Cuz sin is sin—cosmic treason against G.O.D.
And that right there is what I want you to see
You see, we need respect for lots of things, yo
God, sex, women—and the problem’s gonna grow
If no one confronts it and proves it to be so
Right now I have more to show—
Sin is nasty and sexual sin is worse
Cuz it’s against the body—and also a curse
It’ll put you in a hearse—might make your heart feel free
But it’s getting 50 shades blacker in reality
(1 Corinthians) 6:9 says that fornicators go to hell
And well, I don’t wanna see you there so I’ll yell
And point you back toward Christ the Savior
The one who died for all your illicit behavior
Trust Him today, say you’re done with your sin
If you truly do this I promise you that He’ll come in
He’ll shovel out your filth, He’ll make you brand new
It won’t be immediate change, but He’ll be living through you
He’ll lead you to a bride—who you can love for the rest of your life
And He’ll strengthen you to deal with every bit of strife
Help you to respect her, treat her in a way that shows
That you love her like Christ loved His doe
And not like a pimp toward his hoes
HOOK

“And if there’s anybody in here who’s not a Christian, I’m pretty sure you walked out of this realizing, “Okay, fornication’s wrong.” Yes. Anything outside of marriage—any form of sex outside of marriage—is wrong. Yes. But so is lying, so is stealing, so is a whole bunch of other things,  and if you’re not in Christ you’ve done them all and you stand before God as a guilty man—or woman. And if you stand before the Lord, you will stand before Him as the Almighty Judge. Yes, when He came the first time, He came ‘not to judge the world but to save the world,’ but Acts chapter 17 says when He comes the next time He comes to judge the world. Revelation chapter 19 shows the same thing. If you are in your sin you will not find the loving, tender Savior that we all sing to here; you’re gonna find the mighty and merciless Lord who must destroy sin.
“It doesn’t have to be that way for you. Christ gives you an invitation. He says, ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life.’ If you give yourself over to Christ and surrender yourself to Him now, your sins are forgiven. He paid that infinite debt. He gives you the Holy Spirit, you become the temple of God, you are a new person. And then you are given all things that pertain to life and godliness, and you can walk and grow and live for the Lord. Romans chapter 10 verse 9 makes it easy. It says, ‘If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.’ It costs you absolutely nothing.
“But, if you do it, it will cost you everything, for ‘you are not your own, you were bought at a price,’ and you must use your body for the Lord. You must use it for righteousness.”[1]
